This 10day tour, to be organised by Ian, will include a visit to the Ohringen Wine festival and some lovely roads in the Black Forest and Vosge mountains.
We’ve been to this wine event twice before and both times its been great. The festival starts on Thursday June 28th untill Monday July 02nd,
We’ll be staying at the Wuerttemburger hotel right in the heart of Ohringen.
This is a very nice hotel in an excellent location and with good parking.
The routes will be scenic and WILL include lots of twisty swoopy roads through some of the best biking areas Germany and France have to offer (and maybe a bit of Switzerland).
Full details of costs and routes etc will be published as soon as they are finalised.
We’ll be crossing on the Tunnel and having 2 x 1 night stopovers on our way to Ohringen. Our stay in Ohringen will be for 3 nights and then we’ll start our journey back home riding through the Black Forest region, into Switzerland, and then back into France.

Dear Ian
Any comments on my proposed options for joining you on this trip?
Please let me know as Ireen and I need to plan ahead as in February we will be Grand Parents.
I look forward to your comments regarding possible date changes or Ireen and I playing catch up.

Hi Norman, the dates cant change because we go when the WineFest is on. If you and Ireen set off on the Friday lunchtime the quickest way would be via Hull-Zeebrugge on friday night. Its about 400miles from Zeebrugge to Ohringen, a bit much for one day, but you could have an overnight stop and get to Ohringen on Sunday. How about that ??
Ian C
Hi, I’ve now had a reply from the hotel in Ohringen.
See the details in the Members area.
I really need to know who/how many will be joining us so that I can start making the Tunnel and Ohringen hotel reservations.
Please let me know if you want to be on this tour ASAP, please.
Thanks, IanC.

Hi Ian
After reading the details of this holiday I could not resist the thought of once again going on a bike trip abroad. Please put us down for this trip. Thanks.

Hi ALL,
As Alan mentioned above, I’ve just sent out the itinerary to all those who have booked their place.
I estimated the cost to be around £950 inc B&B but due to some great deals I managed to get at some hotels we’ve got it all (Tunnel, 10nts Hotels, 10nts Breakfats, AND 4nts dinners) for £1007 (priced using Jan09th exchange rates) It might be even cheaper if the £ continues to strengthen against the Euro
I’ve done some basic routes but I’ll be working on them to sort out coffee stops, lunch stops, refuels etc etc over the next few months and then I’ll mail them out too.
Its only 23weeks on Wednesday till we set off !

I now understand why a hotel made a debit on my bank account last week
I thought it was to do with this, but not absolutely sure.
